Optimizing Onsite Recycling

The Association of Plastic Recyclers and Resource Recycling are proud to continue our partnership with iSustain Recycling to manage the onsite collection and diversion of recyclables generated by attendees at the 2026 Plastics Recycling Conference, Resource Recycling Conference and Textile Recovery Summit.

The iSustain program allows for the collection and recycling of beverage containers, polypropylene water cups, flexible films, paper and conference lanyards and badges generated throughout the event. Clearly marked collection stations will be located throughout the exhibit hall, registration areas and session rooms, with posted instructions to support proper participation.

Following the conference, iSustain will collect all materials from the recycling stations and stage them for post-event processing. Materials will be manually segregated to remove contaminants and prepared for delivery to specialized recycling partners that process each material stream and return it to productive use.

Resource Recycling and iSustain encourage all attendees to familiarize themselves with recycling station locations and follow posted instructions to help maximize landfill diversion and support real recycling outcomes during the conference.

iSustain

This recycling program aligns with iSustain’s primary goal of helping generators of all forms of recyclables and waste — large and small — improve landfill diversion across North America. Since its inception in 2014, iSustain has helped divert more than 3 billion pounds of plastics, paper, metal and food waste from landfills by utilizing a range of solutions across mechanical recycling, advanced recycling, reuse, repurposing and waste-to-energy sectors.

iSustain partners with manufacturers, organizations and institutions to deliver circular recycling programs for conferences, universities, theme parks, nonprofits and commercial operations nationwide.

Amcor

At this year’s Plastics Recycling Conference, we’re proud to spotlight a powerful partnership model that demonstrates how the industry can work together toward a more circular economy and scale recycling solutions. To enhance material recovery and work toward becoming more circular, Amcor, a global leader in responsible packaging, has joined forces with iSustain, a leading recycling and waste-diversion partner, to support collection and processing of recyclable materials. Through iSustain’s nationwide expertise in collecting and processing postconsumer materials, we’re ensuring more plastics are captured and directed back into high-value recycling streams.

Our collaboration extends further through ExxonMobil Signature Polymers, which provides certified-circular materials¹. By utilizing its proprietary Exxtend™ technology for advanced recycling, ExxonMobil converts difficult-to-recycle plastics into virgin-quality raw material used to make a wide range of valuable new products — supporting the circularity ambitions of Amcor and its customers.

Together, this collaboration demonstrates how the industry can accelerate meaningful progress: expanding collection, scaling recycling infrastructures and working to create packaging for the future.

¹ Certified-circular materials are virgin quality plastics that are accompanied by an ISCC PLUS “Sustainability Declaration” that matches the mass of the virgin quality plastics that ExxonMobil sells to a corresponding amount of plastic waste that was transformed back into usable raw materials through advanced recycling. Certified-circular materials do not represent specific amounts of GHG emissions or recycled content.
